Walls are all around us!

It's time for the weekly house update!

We spent some time out at the house last week/weekend meeting with our builder and looking at the progress.

On Friday evening, we took the Morgans and our friend Mary out to check on the progress. Guess what?! Sheet rock was up and boy did it look awesome! With all these walls it's really starting to feel homey inside.

Now to discuss some details!
We are going to design our kitchen much like this one (same color cabinets, granite, and backsplash):

But we are still working on the cabinet, granite, and tile color combos for the bathrooms. We believe we may go with darker cabinets for those rooms.

Here are a couple of examples of tile and cabinet combos we're considering:

We plan to take a trip to the granite warehouse this weekend and pick out our actual slabs of granite! Woohoo!

We are also in the midst of packing up the old place to get it ready for showing!

The girls did a great job packing up their room last weekend!

Until next time,

Enjoying the summer life

For the next 2 weeks, Ashlyn is at a new summer camp that just looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Brent was able to take a tour of it last weekend and sent us these amazing photos.

Ashlyn is enrolled in the equestrian school at the camp, so she will get to spend extra time with the horses. She is so excited.

She will also get to swim, do archery, climb rock mountains and go canoeing (among many other things).

Brent informed us that this camp had a lot of land, activities and counselors (who are very active in the jobs they do).

We hope Ashlyn has a great experience at this new camp! And if so, we can see many summer return visits in our future!

Brickin up the joint!

New updates on our casa!

We have some bricks going up all around the house:

We love love love the color! Especially the gray grout with the light brick.

Progress inside looks the same.
We are working on picking out the cabinets, granite, and tile colors.

Weekly update!

Nothing huge this week -
Just enjoying summer!

We took a trip to the archery range!

Ashlyn did a great job!
Now Sam and Brent both want to get nice bows and arrows of their own.

We also visited Nashville Shores again.

Lots of lazy riverin'

We made a few decisions on house related stuff (granite counter top colors and cabinet colors).  Our kitchen colors will mimic the kitchen below:

And we also got to see the bricks that will be going up on the house this week!

We know that Nana had a birthday on Saturday.

Nana - we hope you got our message and our cards!
We love you and hope you had a great day!

We hope you all had a great weekend!

Little update on the girls!

The girls are having a great summer!
Recently they have been attending summer camp at a historic homestead and learning about the War of 1812.

We have taken several trips to Murfreesboro to visit the house, hang out with friends, go shopping, eat out, and watch movies.

We went to the Factory in Franklin to paint some clay with our friend Chris.

We did some serious shopping at Opry Mills and visited our new H&M for the first time!

So far we have gone to Nashville Shores once this summer, but we plan to increase that total this weekend.

And of course - we have been drinking lots of Frappuccinos to stay cool!

We hope everyone else is having as great a summer as these two are!

Roofing is UP!

UPDATES:

The roof shingles have been added as well as the windows (with the exception of one that we had the builder change).

Isn't that a gorgeous brown roof!

We also have holes for the step system:

And for our storm shelter (which we did decide to proceeds with, by the way):

Our builder is working to meet our Sept 4th closing date, but with the explosion in new home construction in Rutherford County this might get pushed back a bit.
The electricians and the plumbers will be at the house today beginning the rough in and the brick layers will start next week. We will also meet with our lenders next week to discuss rates. Fingers crossed.

Until next time - here is Fiona waving goodbye to all our blog fans!

When it rains it pours!

Lots of rain in NashVegas and Middle Tennessee this weekend.
We went to visit the house and were impressed by the progress and the water resistance level of the floors (the water would just sit on top of the wood and wait to be swept off, rather than soak in).

We met with our builder to discuss placement of cable outlets and our storm shelter.  All in all it was another great visit out to the Boro!

Until next time -
